In 2017, The Atkinsons were chosen as one of the top 20 bands in Virginia to compete in the Rockn' to Lockn' battle to play the Lockn' Festival. After an online vote, we rose to 3rd place in the top 12 bands and went on to the live playoffs to a sold-out show at The Broadberry in Richmond.

The Atkinsons have two CDs "American Gothic" and "Mile Marker" that are on iTunes, CDbaby and Spotify. The band has played in most every venue in Richmond including The National, The Broadberry, The Tin Pan, Capital Ale House, Ashland Coffee & Tea, The Camel, Hardywood Brewery (all 3 locations), Steam Bell Beer Works, and many more. They've also performed at many festivals and events including Front Porch Fest 10, Floydfest, Camp Barefoot, World Beer Festival, Moonshine Festival, Cardinal Point Oyster Roast plus the annual Church Hill Irish Festivals and Carytown Watermelon Festivals. They play numerous other benefits, oyster and beer festivals too.

They've shared the stage with many great bands such as Cross Canadian Ragweed, Cody Canada and The Departed, Scott Miller and the Commonwealth, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Sons of Bill, Mipso, American Aquarium, Sarah Shook & The Disarmers, Andrew Leahey & The Homestead, Horsehead, Wrinkle Neck Mules, Jackass Flats, and more.
